Puglia votes a law in favour of industrial heritage !

The objective of this new legislation “Valorizzazione del patrimonio di archeologia industriale” is to take advantage of those spaces which might be destined for demolition, to give them new life to buildings that in many cases have great architectural value or are important witness of the industrial history of the region. The aim is also to promote them as touristic destinations.
An important step forward at the beginning of the European Industrial and Technical Heritage Year !

A FUTURE FOR THE FORMER MANUFACTURE OF LEGNANO - PROPOSALS BY YOUNG FOR COMPATIBLE REUSE ON THE HERITAGE OF INDUSTRIAL ARCHAEOLOGY IN TOWN
The Manufacture of Legnano from 1901 occupies a central area of the city. Since 2008, due to a prolonged and increasingly severe crisis in the cotton market, the factory has ceased trading and was put up for sale. At Politecnico di Milano has already been activated, in my course on architectural restoration, a project activity whose purpose is to develop, in collaboration with the students of the degree programs, ideas and proposals for re-use and compatible enhancement of an area of great importance in terms of historical-architectural and urban. The educational activities will conclude at the end of June 2015. Probably the Municipality of Legnano will be available to leave spaces for an exhibition of the best design documents produced by the students from September 2015.
Sincerely
Francesco Augelli
